Luis Huckstadt is a graduate student in the Ocean Sciences Department at the University of California Santa Cruz. His research is focused on the habitat utilization and feeding behavior of southern elephant seals (Mirounga leonina) and crabeater seal (Lobodon carcinophaga) along the Western Antarctica Peninsula. For his dissertation, Luis is utilizing satellite tracking data along with stable isotope analyses to understand the movement patterns of both species of top predators and their relationship with the oceanography of the Southern Ocean.
