Hi! I'm Monty, a shortfin mako shark. I have pretty distinctive coloring because my back area is a metallic indigo blue while my front area is white. My teeth are long and slender, but you can still see them when I close my mouth.
You can usually find me in tropical and temperate offshore waters all around the world, but I really like to hang out in the same waters as swordfish because they like the same kind of environment and coincidentally, they taste really good!! I mainly eat bony fishes including mackerels, tunas, bonitos (and swordfish), but I may also eat other sharks, porpoises and sea turtles.
I don't like to brag, but I'm pretty well known for my speed and ability to leap out of the water. In fact, sometimes when I'm angry about being tricked into biting a fisherman's pole, I will jump out of the water and into the boat! My hydrodynamic shape combined with a high aerobic muscle mass producesmy spectacular speed and agility in the water. Unfortunately, sports fishermen also find my speed and agility appealing, too!
