
A Soggy Day Out in the Field

Especially during this busy time of year: the elephant seal breeding season. We’re hard at work every day, rain or shine! We researchers frequently have to face the elements heat, wind, cold, and yes even rain! Today, we got pretty soggy: we were out in a downpour to recover Poppy’s tags.

The Weaners are Coming!
Posted January 20th, 2009 by LaurenRandallLauren Randall at Año Nuevo State Reserve, CA--Weaners have been spotted, scattered all over Año Nuevo! Weaners, officially called weanlings, are what researchers call elephant seal, Mirounga angustirostris, pups when they are weaned.
